Respected sir,
With reference to above subject and reference number 1 ,we strongly oppose inclusion of physiotherapist cadre in RCI which seems contradictory as ministry of health and family welfare is already in final stage to establish regularly body for healthcare workers including physiotherapist and earlier attempt of putting physiotherapist in RCI was objected and than physiotherapist cadre removed by Government of India gazette notification S.O.501(E)dated 25th June 1999 (reference 2) and also by honourable court's directions.
Many states like Gujarat, Maharashtra,Delhi, Chattisgarh etc have independent physiotherapy council under ministry of health and family welfare gujarat(reference 4).And according to model curriculum of physiotherapy central government (reference 3 ) and various state council definition physiotherapists are not just rehab workers but healthcare professional. Rehabilitation is just one part that physiotherapist deal with they have preventive, curative and wellness part too.It is also against international classification of healthcare workers by WHO(reference 5)
Physiotherapists deal with Women’s Health (Including Pre & Post Natal Care), Cardio Respiratory, Orthopaedic Surgeries, Intensive Care managements, Sports Injuries, General and Neurology and Neuro Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgeries including joint Replacements, Acute Injuries, CPR, Paediatrics, Disaster management Etc. Hence Physiotherapists should be under Ministry of Health only for Professional regulation. (reference 3)
We need to protest again like 2017!
Thus this proposed amended is not only contradictory to recent moves of government of India but also to past court order.
So we strongly oppose inclusion of physiotherapist cadre in RCI and suggest you to withdraw our cadre from it.
Thanking you,
