Whereas a course in India costs just a faction of the USA or UK, earning potential is immense for the professional. A well-rounded graduate in physiotherapy with be the relevant and reputable qualifications from top notch institute however has better chances for jobs in comparison with others.

Step-by-Step

For doctorate in Physiotherapy, the person must have masters in it.
Start Early
Physiotherapy is like any game or sports. Early starters have advantages than late starters, so if you wish to work as a physiotherapist start at early age. Building a shaped and flexible body puts you at advantage point. Start knowing about the human anatomy and the way the bones, muscles and nerves move - it will make you understand the subject at later phase. Later on you can specialize in any areas including of pediatrics, geriatrics, orthopedics, sports physical therapy, neurology, clinical electrophysiology and cardiopulmonary therapy, etc.

Is it the Right Career for Me?
As any career counselor would suggest, go for a career which suits and matches to your flair and the same is true in physiotherapy too. Candidates looking for making a career in physiotherapy should do various research and analysis before opting out for a course in physiotherapy. Moreover, it is equally essential that it is what you want to do in your life. From the perspective of earning, physiotherapy is not a bad option; therefore one does not need to worry about it.
Job is quite challenging for a physiotherapist but is profitable too. Moreover, they are qualified to perform physical examination and conduct assessments to detect a diagnosis process. In order to treat dysfunction and monitoring of treatment they select appropriate physical therapy interventions. A successful Physiotherapist uses various therapeutic intervention techniques to treat a patient in the best possible manner.
What would it Cost Me
There are two levels of qualifications in physiotherapy, 1) Bachelor of physiotherapy and 2), Masters in Physiotherapy. While bachelor in physical therapy has duration of 4 and 1 /2 year (including Internship), the masters in physiotherapy has the duration of two years. A person after doing +2 with biology is eligible for bachelors’ degree. For masters, a bachelor degree in physiotherapy is must.
Generally, the courses commence from the 1st April, every year. Doing a bachelors’ degree in physiotherapy from a top notch institute costs anywhere between 2 to 5 L in Indian currency; however, the cost can be reduced if done from Centralized Universities. Depending upon the ranking of college or institute the fee may differ. Doing masters degree or specialization in one discipline can further the cost.

Moreover, various scholarships are offered by the concerned institutes on the merit basis. Some diploma courses in physiotherapy can be done which are offered to volunteered students from various leading hospital or medical centers. In such a course the entire fee is paid by the institute or organization.
Job Prospects

Physiotherapy can be considered a health profession which is concerned with maximization of mobility and quality of life by implementing clinical reasoning.

Physical therapists have ample job prospects in Hospitals, Nursing homes, Residential homes, Rehabilitation centers, Private offices such as Private practices or Private clinics, etc. Additionally, a person with qualification in physiotherapy can work at Out-patient clinics, Community health care centers or Primary health care centers, Fitness centers or Health clubs, Occupational health centers, Special schools and Senior citizen centers, etc.
Notwithstanding, job prospects for physiotherapists are bright in various sports centers, teaching, working in foreign countries with companies, N.G.Os, etc.
Pay Packet
Student who have qualification in physiotherapy are also required to have soft skills such as communications, critical thinking skills and teamwork, etc. to get a job. After completing graduation in physiotherapy a person can earn any salary 5000 to 10,000 in Indian currency. However, the pay package differs from the company to company and the college one has done his course from. While the salary package is low at the beginning, after due course and experience it jumps up extraordinarily.
Demand and Supply
India’s job market face the dearth of physiotherapist and it can be attributed to the fact that there is not much awareness about the scope and prospects of the profession. Moreover, lack of infrastructural set up to offer quality education in physiotherapy proves a major handicap. Once awareness about the occupation is spread in mainstream, it would be more in demand than now.

Market Watch
As various health centers, fitness centers, wellness centers, spas, etc. are coming up in big way, the prospects of career in physiotherapy seem positive. Students after completing their course in physiotherapy receive offer letters from top notch brands including of Mammoth Resorts USA, Taj Blue Diamond, Sun & Sands, Ambassador Ajanta, Magarpata club & Resorts and many others. International Focus

Aspirants willing to opt for teaching have option of teaching at various universities abroad. Then there are schools for mentally retarded and physically disabled children, defense medical establishments and rehabilitation centers for the handicapped which offer attractive venues for Indian students with qualification in Physiotherapy.
Physiotherapists have better scope internationally than India as the market for it is more expanded in developed countries where it is accepted as an effective method to cure various ailments and health problems. Even compensation packages for physiotherapists are more attractive in the USA, UK, Australia, Canada than in India and that may be a reason why many successful Physiotherapists start their profession or start working with health solution providers in these countries and earn attractive salaries.
Positives/Negatives
At times aspirants may think that it is not attractive as that of software engineering or medical science or law; however, the physiotherapist’s job offers job satisfaction. Therefore, if you are looking for job satisfaction, opt for physiotherapist’s job. Nonetheless, salary packages too are not so low that it may sound unattractive. A lot of earning potential depends on the person and knowledge of Physiotherapy.
Despite a challenging task ahead a candidate can carve a niche for himself with excellent knowledge of Anatomy, Biochemistry, Exercise Therapy, Physiology, Electrotherapy, Physical Fitness & Yoga, Pharmacology, Kinesio- Therapeutics, Psychology & Psychiatry, Pathology, Microbiology, etc. An effective method to carve a niche in the profession is to offer something positive and effective as well as suitable.

Latest in paralysis: ekso Bionic Suit and robots

Ekso-Bionic Suit

Physical therapy is always utilizing new techniques, exercises and methods to treat patients’ injuries and help them regain range of motion. It’s crucial for physical therapists and surgeons to work together, think creatively, and take advantage of breakthrough technology to determine the best therapeutic modalities for patient treatment.

Over the past few years, standout advances have been made in physical therapy, helping patients recover from injuries faster and more effectively.

The Ekso bionic suit helps individuals who have been paralyzed to stand up and walk using battery-powered motors that operate the legs to assist the patient with moving. It was designed to help physical therapists who treat numerous patients in a short period of time. This tool allows people to relearn proper step patterns and trains them to walk again after paralysis.
Consisting of three different levels of operation, the Ekso suit assists people who face various lower extremity weaknesses. One level requires a physical therapist to assign movements by pressing a button. The second level allows the patient to control the suit and make each step happen. With the third level, the suit makes movements based on the user shifting his or her weight.
The advances that have been made in physical therapy have greatly impacted patient treatment. With the new methods, techniques, and technology available today, patients are receiving advanced care and recovering more quickly and effectively than ever before.

Rehabilitation Robots

Rehabilitation robots are tools that physical therapists use to assist in patient injury evaluation and treatment. The robots don’t replace the physical therapists but rather help them perform tasks that will benefit patients.
A patient who has suffered a stroke may not be able communicate the impairments he or she is experiencing. Rehab robots have been shown to improve the detection of post-stroke impairments, which results in better therapy for the patient.
Some patients need treatment that requires a great deal of effort for the physical therapist, such as moving a patient who can’t walk. Rehabilitation robots can easily bear the weight, relieving physical therapists of this potentially painful duty.
Eventually, as rehabilitation robots become more advanced, they’ll be used to guide patients through repetitive movements. They’ll also be programmed with custom treatment plans to help restore functions to stroke patients.

Top physiotherapy colleges in India.

TOP PHYSIOTHERAPY COLLEGES IN INDIA

Today many institutes from each states are offering courses for BPT. We should know that these institutes should be approved and affiliated with UGC,  Indian association of physiotherapists and state council. Many institutions are running without affiliation because of lack of central council for physiotherapy.

Placements after the course from a college in past should also be taken in mind while you are taking admission to a college. Seniors and pass out students can help you in this. For affiliation please check UGC and IAP websites regularly

Top ten physiotherapy colleges in India are:

1. NIRTAR Kattak Odisha

2. PDDUIPH DELHI (IPH, Delhi)

3. NIOH KOLKATTA

4. All India Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Haji Ali, Mahalaxmi, Mumbai.

5. ISIC - Indian Spinal Injuries Centre vasant kunj New Delhi.

6. National institute of sports Patiala

7. Rajiv Gandhi health university Bangalore

8. GURU GOVIND SINGH INDRAPRASTHA UNIVERSITY NEW DELHI

9. The Amar Jyoti Institute of Physiotherapy (Affiliated to University of Delhi) conducts a 4 ½ year Bachelor of Physiotherapy program

10. College of applied education and health sciences Meerut UP

In India, universities offer Diploma, Bachelor's, Masters and also PhD in Physiotherapy. Diploma course is usually 3 years and the enrolment has reduced since the introduction of Bachelors in Physiotherapy (BPT) in the early 1990s in India. Most students with Diploma has opted for lateral entry to Bachelor programme.
Bachelor in Physiotherapy (BPT) is a 4-year undergraduate program in physiotherapy with 6 months of mandatory clinical internship; that is typically rotatory. They have almost similar subjects like graduation course in developed countries and can practice either with Physician or independently. However, due to lack of National Council the syllabus of BPT varies from state to state in the country.
After the graduation Physiotherapist (PTs') could go for further specialization in Cardiovascular & pulmonary physiotherapy , Neurology, Musculoskeletal, Hands, Sports, Obs-Gynaecology, or undertake Research.
PTs in India use the title 'Doctor' and prefix it before their name with a suffix P.T. (Physiotherapist) so as to make their stand clear they are not medical doctors. However, the use of the title 'Dr' according to the IAP (Indian Association of Physiotherapist) is by tradition and convention and is used in the same manner as it is used by the MBBS/MS/BDS/MDS/BHMS/BAMS/BNYS/BUMS degree holders. PTs argue that they are not breaching any law prevailing in India as legally only one who has earned a degree in MD/DM or Phd is justified to use and prefix the 'Doctor' title.

There are well over 250 colleges offering undergraduate program in physiotherapy (BPT) and more than 50 colleges offering masters in Physiotherapy (MPT) with two years' duration. MUHS (Maharashtra) and some other universities in India run a 3-year MPT postgraduate degree. PhD in Physiotherapy is also offered in some selected universities of the states Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and Delhi.

A.M.U. Aligarh started Diploma in Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation very early but they did not upgrade it yet.
Jamia Hamdard took the lead in starting Post-Graduate course in Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy in North India in 1998. The courses were very well received and are in great demand. The Faculty receives help and active support from the renowned hospitals in Delhi for training the students, besides utilizing Majeedia Hospital. The Jamia is in the process of constructing a separate building for the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences with the help of generous grant from the UGC. The Faculty offers Masters and Bachelors programmes of study in Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy.
Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya Institute for the Physically Handicapped is an autonomous organization under the administrative and financial control of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India. The Institute for the Physically Handicapped came into being when the erstwhile Jawahar Lal Nehru Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and other allied institution run by the council for the Aid of crippled and handicapped were taken over by the Government of India on 22 May 1975 and converted into an autonomous body in the year 1976. It was renamed after Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya in the year 2002. The institute provides Bachelor of Physical Therapy, Bachelor of Occupational Therapy and Bachelor of Prosthetics & Orthotics, 4 ½ years duration course in affiliation with University of Delhi.
The Amar Jyoti Institute of Physiotherapy (affiliated to University of Delhi) opened its doors to the first batch of students in the year 1999, with an aim to serve health-care needs of the community through education and training of Physiotherapy practitioners. The mission of the Institute is to: "Provide leadership, management and resources for the advancement of education, scholarship, public service, and the practice of physiotherapy" The B.Sc. (H) Physiotherapy degree course at Amar Jyoti is especially designed to produce graduates who will be competent and confident physiotherapy practitioners who will be able to provide evidence-based physiotherapy to their patients and community at large.

All India Institute of Medical Sciences,Singhania University, Jamia Millia Islamia and many other universities are offering PhD in Physiotherapy.

Health professional

A medical professional or medical provider is an individual who provides preventive, curative, promotional or rehabilitative services in a systematic way to people, families or communities.

A medical professional may operate within all branches of medical care, including doctors, dentists, nurses, pharmacists, psychologistsor allied health professions. A medical professional may also be a public/community health expertee working for the common good of the society.

Practicing without a license that is valid and current is typically illegal. In most jurisdictions, the provision of health care services is regulated by the government. Individuals found to be providing medical, nursing or other professional services without the appropriate certification or license may face sanctions and criminal charges leading to a prison term. The number of professions subject to regulation, requisites for individuals to receive professional licensure, and nature of sanctions that can be imposed for failure to comply vary across jurisdictions.

In the United States, under Michigan state laws, an individual is guilty of felony if identified as practicing in the health profession without a valid personal license or registration. Health professionals can also be imprisoned if found guilty of practicing beyond the limits allowed by their licences and registration. The state laws define thescope of practice for medicine, nursing, and a number of allied health professions.

In Florida, practicing medicine without the appropriate license is a crime classified as a third degree felony, which may give imprisonment up to five years. Practicing a health care profession without a license which results in serious bodily injury classifies as a second degree felony, providing up to 15 years' imprisonment.

In the United Kingdom, healthcare professionals are regulated by the state; the UK Health and Care Professions Council(HCPC) protects the 'title' of each profession it regulates. For example, it is illegal for someone to call himself an Occupational Therapist or Radiographer if they are not on the register held by the HCPC.

Government colleges charge less than pvt. Institutions so try to crack the entrance exams of these colleges.

Hospital associated with college should we big and good enough so that exposure to patients take place.

There is always a scope of bargaining in fee with pvt. Colleges.

All the best for your future journey.
