Dear Physiotherapists,
Health department has started inspections of clinics as per directives of higher authorities in Maharashtra. Municipal corporation & municipal council's squads are doing inspections across state. Got many calls from our professionals. Hence writing it. It's lengthy but read. Kindly follow following things.
1) Coperate with the inspection team . They are doing their job. Don't argue with them.
2) Keep your Degree Certificate, Council Registration certificate, AADHAR card, Profe of Clinic ownership / Rent documents like 7/12 certificate / Rent agreement or equivalent certificate. KEEP 4 PHOTOCOPIES of all documents. Also keep orignal degree , registration certificate.
Kindly note that ASSOCIATION MEMBERSHIP certificate is not valid document for practice in state. Don't argue with inspection team on it. They are legally correct in this regard.
3) As per Bombay Nursing Home Act there is no need to register clinical establishment if you are running a clinic with "Less than 2 BEDS". Hence issue of "Qualified Nurse" , Fire Brigade NOC, dont get applicable here.
Kindly note that "Beds" here means IPD bed. Inform inspection team that its OPD & patients are not admitted here.
4) Inform team that Physiotherapy is "Non-Pharmacological" treament & medicines are not given. Hence need of registered Pharmacy practitioner is not applicable.
DON'T KEEP ANY MEDICINES in clinic.
5) if you are doing only consulting then there is no need to register with "Bio Medical Waste" agency. Inform them that Physiotherapy procedures doesnt include removal of blood / body fluid & There is no CONTACT with blood/ body fluid. U can give affidavit of same if inspectors demands. Nothing harm in this. But make sure on what you are signing.
If u r practicing dry needling then registration with bio medical becomes legal.
If u have it then no issues. If u don't have then DON'T STOCK NEEDLE PACKETS IN CLINIC.
If u r Using cotton for wiping Electrode GEL then it can be considered as biomedical waste. Politely inform them in details that it's not coming in contact with blood / body fluid & it's not used for invasive procedure. If needed give DEMO of it.
To Avoid conflicts for Time being u can use TISSUE PAPERS (Paper Napkins) for cleaning electrodes.
Keep the bills of purchase of gel.
6) if you dont have anything mentioned above then request for time. It's possible that u will be allowed for it & action will not be taken.
7) few tips for Bed:
Don't use typical beds used in wards for admitting people.
Customized counches with storage capacity / cupboards can be used.
If bed has I.V. stand then remove it.
8. Keep format of bill / bill pad.
9. In the last, Kindly remember that We r "REGISTERED PHYSIOTHERAPY PRACTITIONER" offering physiotherapy services as per law of land of state. We are committed to laws of land & we are following all laws which are applicable to us. Hence be Relaxed, be polite & don't Argue with inspection team.
